Im confused, i have pair of 544 for "try before buy" at my home and listening chain is:

1. Tidal via Revox B285 tape out in 544
2. CD player via Revox B285 tape out in 544

These two sound really good but when i listen my turntable, sound is completely bad????

Same listening chain, TT is Thorens TD165 with (relatively new) AT540ml head.

Im just confused with this moment, not talking about that Tidal and CD just sound better talking about that my TT sound really bad ONLY via 544 speaker, via my Revox B285/Revox Plenum B sound as should?

Any idea?

Hello. I asume the recordplayer(s) are connected to the PHONO inputs of the Revox. Is the switch MM/MC of the amp in the good position?

I'm confused too with this setting. How do you adjust the volume?

This confuses me as well.
I have used for years a Revox B-252 pre-amplifier with 532 MFB's with a Mitsubishi LT-5V turntable, which was fitted with a Nagaoka JT322 head. And that sounded splendid. I do still own this equipment.

If you have your MFB's connected to the tape-out, how do you adjust the volume?
Check the input settings on the Revox. This is not normal.

Your connections are not correct. You should not use tape out. You should use pre-out if available or connect to speaker outputs. In that case you need to set the sensitivity of the 544 MFB half way.

There is no explanation for your turntable problem, but it has nothing to do with the 544 MFB.

Tnx everyone for response.

Volume for Tidal is from Smart TV, CD is connected to amp via variable out (just for this test purpose) for adjusting level on CD itself...

Phono switching on Revox is ok.
This tape out connection is just for test purpose of speakers i know that not proper way but its ok just for speaker test ...

But that turntable problem is really mystery for now...

On the moment you connect the mfb on tape out connectors you give the build in phono preamp a extra load by the input resistance from the mfb speaker input. For a cd player or a streamer is this normal no problem because they both have a very low output impedance. A normal phono preamp doesn’t have a low output impedance and can give this kind of problems.

I think if you listen to your amplifier with this recordplayer on normal loudspeakers you also have some disturbing if you short the the tape out with this kind of low impedance like a mfb speaker.
